Relay for Life on Saturday
Thank you so much for the flowers, cards, spa treats, and food during Teacher Appreciation Week! Ms. Knight and I surely felt loved last week.
-The students successfully completed ERB testing last week. I was very proud of their hard work. I told them each day how proud I was that each person took their own time and did not worry when others around them were finishing.
-Closing Chapel is this Wednesday.
-Band and Orchestra students: you will be performing Thursday morning for the Lower School.
-Friday has been changed to an E day.
- Yearbooks were distributed last week. Please make sure your child's name and teacher's name are written in the front of the yearbook. We will host a grade level signing day the last week of school.
Writer's Workshop:
This week, we will start researching a villain/global issue for our Heroes Matter topic. We, as a class, will discuss issues that are close to our hearts and discuss what things we can do to make a difference. Students will research the topic they choose and try and figure out the best solution/superhero to solve the problem. This writing unit has been fun so far! It is really amazing to hear about the different passions each student has and how they want to change the world.
Math:
Students will take the End of the Year Math Assessment on Wednesday and Thursday. This assessment does not have an open response or oral/slate. Students can refer to their review packet to prepare.
Word Study:
Sort 15 will be handed out tomorrow. The test will be next Tuesday, May 17th. To close out word study this year, students will receive sort 16. They will not be assessed on these word and rules, but will take the time to learn the rules and patterns.
Social Studies:
Our Southern Colonies will come to a close on Friday (unless any unforeseen activities pop up). The students will use the exit slips and the chapters to create a wordlet "quiz" to help them study. They will be assessed next week-date TBD.
Fourth Grade Market was introduced on Friday. Students are creating their business and will be submitting their business plan to obtain their license. All work will be completed at home. You will be invited to attend during the last week of school. More information to come soon!
Reading Workshop:
Students are reading articles to help prepare for their Heroes that Matter writing. In addition, we will be doing one last book club before the year is over. Students will choose books and set goals tomorrow.
