I have added important dates on the homepage of the website. These dates take us to the end of the year. Hard to believe we could already be thinking and planning for the end of the year!
Run'N'Lovett is Saturday the 30th.
As you can imagine, we are getting to one of the busiest times of year. Please be sure to let me know if your child will be knowingly absent one day, or checking out early one day.
Writing Workshop:
Students have published their opinion piece on whether or not chocolate milk should be served in schools! I started reading through their arguments this weekend and I see some strong reasons for and against.
This week will focus primarily on test prep skills in Writing. We will begin with Writing Concepts and Skills and then discuss Writing Mechanics. In addition, on Wednesday and Thursday, I will have a WRAP simulation. Students will work on a piece in WPP for the same amount of time as the WRAP. We will follow-up on Thursday afternoon with best skills for planning, editing, and finishing a piece for the actual WRAP assessment.
Reading Workshop:
We will finish reading Wonder and wrap up Social Issues this week. In addition, we will focus on reading comprehension test prep. This week will look at informational pieces and best practices for reading and answering questions for this type of genre.
Social Studies:
Our study of the Southern colonies began last week. Students will be reading some of the chapters ahead of time at home so that we can focus our class time on discussions and questions.
Word Study:
